A new milestone in industrial networking will be unveiled at ENLIT Europe 2025 in Bilbao: the RELY-VPCIe, a next-generation Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC) that combines SR-IOV virtualization with HSR/PRP redundancy to deliver unprecedented performance and reliability for virtualized industrial environments.
The RELY-VPCIe has been designed to meet the increasing demand for virtualization and high availability in smart grid, and critical control applications. What truly sets the RELY-VPCIe apart is its integrated support for HSR (High-availability Seamless Redundancy) and PRP (Parallel Redundancy Protocol), two key standards for zero-time recovery in redundant Ethernet networks. In addition, its built-in PTP (Precision Time Protocol) synchronization ensures nanosecond-level clock accuracy across all nodes, enabling real-time application support. By combining SR-IOV virtualization with HSR/PRP redundancy and PTP synchronization, the RELY-VPCIe delivers both virtualization efficiency and network fault tolerance, allowing seamless, real-time communication even in the event of link or node failures.
In addition to these advanced capabilities, users will benefit from a high degree of customization to design a complete and tailored network configuration. The RELY-VPCIe also supports integration with other platforms or systems through its HTTP-based communication interface, enabling remote configuration and network-level automation across multiple virtual machines, a key capability for large-scale or dynamically managed environments.
