As part of the innovation that SOC-E carries out, the Basque Government has once again granted us a subsidy within the Hazitek aid program.
This is the AEROSECURE Project: Testing Platform for Automation, Protection and Process Control in Electrical Substations.
The main objective of the project is the design of a cybersecure Switch/Router for real-time airborne applications. To this end, the project addresses a line of research to define and design new cybersecurity software functionalities compatible with critical real-time communications, including intrusion detection and ACL lists. In addition, the design of a new hardware based on programmable logic (FPGA) that accommodates these new features and also allows us to demonstrate the validity of these new software functionalities in a laboratory environment (TRL4) will have to be addressed.
There is an increasing reliance on interconnected systems within aircraft, making cyber threats a primary concern. By creating a secure communications device tailored to avionics, this vulnerability can be addressed by applying robust encryption protocols, intrusion detection mechanisms and secure data transmission techniques. The development of such a device represents a significant market opportunity for companies like SOC-E that aspire to offer comprehensive solutions to the evolving needs of the aviation industry.
SOC-E has extensive knowledge in Ethernet-based solutions, as well as a good market position both nationally and internationally, and the result of the research proposed in the framework of this project would allow it to generate a product for a really interesting sector such as aerospace, while at the same time establishing within the organization the set of quality processes necessary to be competitive in that sector. It is an opportunity both at a technical and organizational level. On the other hand, SOC-E is aware that this is a development that requires a lot of prior research, and that is why it plans to achieve a level 4 TRL, a proof of concept that is validated in a laboratory environment. If the results are satisfactory, SOC-E will introduce this innovative technological solution in its future products, in order to mature and raise the TRL level.
