The new release of SoC-e switching IPs offers as an optional feature dedicated buffers for GOOSE and for SMV frames. These queues are independent for each networking port and they are fully configurable. This unique feature allows the designer to simplify and to optimize the task of processing these critical IEC 61850 Layer 2 frames by hardware or by software. The designer can use this add to implement smart IEC 61850 switching architectures and to release embedded CPU from the task of processing these multicast traffic intensive frames.
All these filtering capabilities supported by SoC-e IPs, reduce the network traffic generated by GOOSE and SVM multicast traffic in the power substations.
