SoC-e takes part in the latest TSN Testbed of the IIC Consortium

SoCe TSN team is again attending this week the TSN Testbed organized by the IIC Consortium between October 23rd and October 26th, at the Institute for Control Engineering of Machine Tools and Manufacturing Units (ISW) of the University of Stuttgart, Germany. Last IIC TSN Testbed was celebrated on July at the same location. More than 15 leading companies, experts in Ethernet networking, take part in this Testbed. Several Testbeds have been held during the year. Current Testbed will host its…

Digital Substations with High Availability Ethernet and IEEE 1588 in South America

Digital substations taking benefit from HSR/PRP High Availability Ethernet and IEEE 1588 sub-microsecond synchronization is a reality world-wide. The following picture was taken in September 2018 at Zona Norte 150 kV Substation in Montevideo Uruguay. It shows Controles S.A. Bay Control Units RTU194 provided with SoC-e SMARToem HSR/PRP/PTP module. As a result of this fully digitalization  effort, the utility is achieving a fully automated operation supported by time-aware redundant networks. SoC-e takes part in the IIC TSN Testbed (Erbach, Germany)

The Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC) is the organization in charge of transforming business and society by accelerating the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). Testbeds are a major focus and activity of the Industrial Internet Consortium and its members. SoCe will be attending, as an IIC member company, the Time Sensitive Network (TSN) Testbed organized by the IIC on 13-15 March in Erbach, Germany. In this testbed, SoCe will collaborate with other member companies in order to test TSN implementations and…

SoC-e’s MTSN Switch IP Core solution now supports 802.1AB (LLDP)

SoC-e is continually investing much of its effort in periodically renewing its products to meet the needs of the market and its customers. The MTSN Switch IP Core, launched in October last year, continues to receive numerous updates which include new features and enhancements. In the last major update support for 802.1AB or LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol) has been included. This software-implemented feature allows TSN devices to discover the topology of the network to which it is connected and the…

SoC-e releases IEC 61850/62351 SASCrypt IP Core

IEC 62351 is a standard developed for handling the security of IEC 61850 series protocols amongs others. The different security objectives include authentication of data transfer through digital signatures, ensuring only authenticated access, prevention of eavesdropping, prevention of playback and spoofing, and intrusion detection. The IEC 62351-6 part provides security for IEC 61850 profiles. SoC-e has released the IEC 61850/62351 Substation Automation Systems Cryptographic (SASCrypt) IP Core. This IP Core secures the strict real-time traffic used in the Substation Automation Systems and…

SoC-e IP Cores support new Xilinx UltraScale+ devices

Xilinx UltraScale/UltraScale+ architectures comprise high-performance FPGA, MPSoC, and RFSoC families that address a vast spectrum of system requirements with a focus on lowering total power consumption through numerous innovative technological advancements. All the IP Cores in the SoC-e product portfolio have a version which is supported in devices with UltraScale and UltraScale+ architecture. This devices enhance the performance of SoC-e’s products. The combination of SoC-e’s IP Cores with the performance of these architectures allows the designer to implement leading-edge networking, synchronization and…

The new release of Managed Ethernet Switch (MES) IP Core supports DLR for Ethernet/IP

Device Level Ring (DLR) is a Layer-2 protocol that provides media redundancy in a ring topology. The DLR protocol is intended primarily for implementation in Ethernet/IP end-devices that have two Ethernet ports and embedded switch technology. The DLR protocol provides fast network fault detection and reconfiguration in order to support the most demanding control applications. A DLR network includes at least one node configured to be a Ring Supervisor, and any number of Beacon Based Nodes. It is assumed that…
