Talking about our System-on-Modules (SoM) solutions

Today we will be showing our different SoMs (System on Modules) that we offer here at SoCe. Our SoMs are a pluggable System-on-Module (SoM) designed to enable easy integration of Industrial Ethernet Networks in equipment for Electric, Transportation, and Industrial Automation sectors. This powerful module allows the implementation of custom switches or speeding-up end-equipment development with powerful networking capabilities, by using SoCe IP Cores (even combined with user logic). Network frame processing can be performed by hardware using specific IP…

Taking advantage of highly configurable capabilities of SoC-e IP Cores

In this new post, we will explain the degree of configuration that our IP Cores catalogue offers. Our IP Cores are designed to be easily integrated in any FPGA design by taking advantage of the Xilinx Vivado Graphical User Interface (GUI), that allows to use the IP Cores in a graphical user interface and configure IP parameters in an easy way. At SoC–e we have a wide experience programming these HDL generics in order to have this degree of configuration.…

Reducing frame latency thanks to Cut-through approach in our MES IP Core

In this new post, how Fast Frame Forwarding (Cut-through) works in our Ethernet switch, will be explained. Our Ethernet Switch, MES IP Core, provides Fast Frame Forwarding also called Cut-through forwarding. This frame forwarding mechanism diff ers from store and forward approach. Cut-Through Mode allows for the reduction of frame latency through the switch by forwarding frames directly to the egress port without first waiting for receipt of the entire frame and jumping the standard switching path as it is depicted…

CDIIF and Electronica China – Hongke presents SoC-e TSN solutions

In the last month, the Chengdu International Industry Fair (CDIIF) and the Electronica China fair were hold in China. These events took place in trade fairs hall in Chengdu and Shanghay respectively. As one of the largest and most influential industry fairs worldwide, Chengdu International Industry Fair (CDIIF) chooses Chengdu – the important manufacturing base and strategic region of China, is created to serve the needs of China’s industry upgrading and transformation. CDIIF is dedicated to display the future look…

A more in-deep overview of SoC-e OS

In this new post, we would like to talk a bit more about our software solution which is offered in Relyum‘s end-equipment and our IP Cores and SoM solutions, SoC–e OS. As a result of years of experience and an in-depth analysis of the necessary software requirements, SoC–e offers a software architecture in which a series of proprietary services will act as middleware between the lower layers of the operating system, which are those that interact with the hardware and…

New Architecture for GOOSE and SMV achieving less than 7µs latency

IEC 62351-6 standard specifies the security mechanisms to protect real-time communications based on IEC 61850.  GOOSE and SMV must be generated, transmitted and processed in less than 3ms. While other alternatives have serious difficulties in achieving the target latency of 3ms, SoC-e’s design authenticates and encrypts real-time IEC 61850 data in less than 7µs and complies with IEC 62351:2020! The publication is accessible via Open Access, please take a look!  IEEE Publication SoC–e is a worldwide leading supplier of Ethernet…

Optimizing FPGA resources required for 1/10G Ethernet Switches thanks to SOC-e Port Grouping feature

Nowadays, sectors like Industry, Medical and A&D demand 10G Ethernet capable equipment. In addition to these high-speed ports, it is usual requiring large number of ports and media-speed combination in the Ethernet switch fabric. FPGA and Reconfigurable SoCs are popular in the added-value equipment for these sectors. They are used to integrate the Ethernet switch fabric in combination with other application dependent IPs. The implementation of big number and high-throughput capable Ethernet ports increments drastically the FPGA internal resources needed…

SoC-e takes part in the PILAR project

We have recently participated in the Hazitek and CDTI grant programme! The participation was through the PILAR project is the best way to accelerate the implementation of 4.0 solutions in the strategic sectors of the Basque Country to gain competitiveness. It aims to research and develop an interoperable, deterministic and distributed connectivity, computing and artificial intelligence solution for industry. Connectivity PILAR addresses the development of solutions based on open standards to guarantee interoperability and communication between business information (IT) subsystems…

Increasing data bandwidth thanks to Link Aggregation feature of SoC-e MES IP Core

Link Aggregation according to IEEE 802.1AX-2008 (formerly IEE 802.3ad) is a standard for bundling multiple network connections in parallel (Link Aggregation Groups – LAGs)  as it is shown in the next figure: Link Aggregation has the following properties: LAG provides link redundancy (fault tolerance) and automatic recovery when individual physical links fail. If one of the ports of the LAG fails, the other ports will automatically provide backup and share the traffic. Data transmission will be distributed over the physical…
